Black History Arts & More (BHAM) is a collaboration of black historians and artistic in Birmingham. The aim of the project is champion black arts and culture in Birmingham and to support the development of local artists.
The West Midlands has a large number of sporting venues that have a historic connection not only to the wider West Midland sporting region but also to the Commonwealth Games 2022. Black Heritage Walks Network provides unique trail showcasing sporting heroes from the perspective of the African Caribbean community.
There has been a wealth of sporting heroes from football to cricket to athletics. Our sporting heroes tour provides an opportunity celebrate the contribution and legacy of the black community to UK's magnificent sporting heritage.
Black heritage in Birmingham is so vast, its impossible to summarise it all on foot! Hence, we have teamed up with an alternative transport provider, VOI E-scooters, to develop an innovative tour using scooters and bikes.
This tour combines Birmingham's existing alternative transport network of bike lanes, canals and pedestrianised areas, linked to the rich historical heritage of the black community in Birmingham.

This project is a ground-breaking arts interpretation of the Harriet Tubman’s ‘Underground Railroad’ - as a network of secret routes and safe houses in the United States that support runaway slaves to freedom during the early 19th century. The mural will showcase the network of individuals and organisation that have supported the black community in Birmingham over the past 60 years. The mural will be produced by our Senior Youth Activator - Michaela Wright.
Birmingham's Reggae Royalty is a arts mural celebrating the talent of Reggae artists in Birmingham over the past 60 years. Its is a partnership project with Simmer Down Arts and also funded by B2022 Creative Cities.
The mural was co-created with Birmingham Youth Service and legendary artist Bunny Bread, to develop an explosive arts interpretation of Birmingham's Reggae Royalty.

Diamond Diva is one of a series murals funded by Birmingham 2022 Creative Cities Project, developed to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Jamaica's independence.
The mural was produced by Know Hope and co-created with local young people lead by youth activator Courtney Philip. The artwork was developed by the legendary artist, Bunny Bread from Create Not Destroy.
Our ground breaking heritage education project for 12 -18 year olds exploring the history of street art, its link to the Black Arts Movement, Hip Hop and its relevance to Black heritage and culture.
This heritage education programme consists of a series of 4 workshops, showcasing prominent street artists, such as the legendary Jean Michel Basquiat.
The workshops are interactive, allowing participants to practice neo expressionist art and develop their own abstracts and social commentary, which are incorporated into local street artworks.
The community spirit our grandparents had, and the kind we felt during the pandemic, is the kind that needs celebrating.
China Plate Theatre has been making an arts programme in collaboration with residents which celebrates North Birmingham’s heritage of migration and activism through the ages. As part of our planning for 2022, we’re exploring what it means to belong to a community, the art of protest, and intergenerational stories within Caribbean and South Asian communities.
