'Being a volunteer at Black Heritage Network has been a positive and enlightening experience. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to learn more about black heritage in the UK and be able to participate in the organisations immersive and interactive learning experiences to help educate the community. I have gained invaluable knowledge and experiences that will remain with me long after '-
Michaela Wright, Youth Activator
"My experience volunteering at Black Heritage Walks Network has been nothing short of inspiring - working with young people in Birmingham, local artists, and community leaders, has encouraged me to dig deeper into the socio-political histories of creativity in Birmingham. Particularly focusing on the contributions of Black people - and people of colour, more generally - working alongside staff in numerous projects has been a grounding experience for me. One in which I am continually inspired to re-evaluate, highlight, and celebrate how our complex histories frame our rich present. After volunteering here, I feel more capable to engage with the world critically, consciously, and optimistically"
