Launch of 'People Champion' Benjamin Zephaniah Mural 

A major new mural celebrating the roots and activism of Benjamin Zephaniah is to be unveiled in Handsworth Park on Sunday 14th April 2024. Commissioned by Black Heritage Walks Network (BHWN) and completed by internationally renowned artist Bunny Bread founder of Create Not Destroy, the work celebrates Zephaniah's stature as ‘The People's Champion’

Spring into action - BAME Social Welfare Hubs

Spring is here and the days are getting warmer but the 'cost of living crisis 2023' still continues. 

We have teamed up with Legacy West Midlands, Birmingham City Council and local providers to ensure that our most vulnerable communities are supported throughout this crisis. We now have two BAME social welfare hubs Edgbaston and Highgate, which form part of our overall Hub & Spoke health outreach strategy in the areas surrounding our regular walks. 

Spirt of Caribbean - Community Legacy Award Winners

Black Heritage Walks Network are the proud winner of the Community Legacy Award 2022!

The Spirit of the Caribbean Annual Ball incorporating the Black Honour Awards will bring together like-minded people who uphold and share similar values. The Awards acknowledges what has gone before and laying the foundations for what is yet to come. It aims to show recognition and pay tribute to the outstanding contribution and excellent work carried out by member of our community daily. Black Heritage Walks Network was nominated for the Community Legacy Award.

Soho Settlers - Handsworth Histories

Calling all Handsworth Residents and those with Handsworth Histories. We are a creating a story and memory sharing space with ChinanPlate Theatre  at Handsworth Library.

The event starts with a walk around the area and then coffee, cake and a catch up. Interested to get involved? You can join Black Heritagewalks Network and Over Hear  on Tuesday 3rd May (2-5pm) for a mini memory walk and workshop.
