Michaela is the key lead on our youth heritage and arts projects. In particular, Michaela is the Senior Youth Activator and producer of our ground breaking 'Underground Railroad' project.
Michaela is currently employed as a primary school teacher and has a passion for black heritage, arts, and history. As a university undergraduate, Michaela completed a history degree, which included a module focused solely on heritage and its importance to communities.
In her spare time, Michaela enjoys visiting exhibitions, such as a recent exhibition at Tate Britain called “Life between islands”. She also enjoy's reading history related books -her favourite author being David Olusoga. She is passionate about black heritage as 'black heritage is a means to boost communities and morale within the black community'. Being a member of the black Caribbean community and undertaking this work has been beneficial to her self-awareness and has made her feel more connected to my roots. Through being involved in the Black Heritage Network CIC, Michaela's aims to further contribute to our work and wider black community.
