Discover the impact and legacy of 800 African American women, who served in the 6888th Battalion of the US Army.

It consisted of 855 black women both enlisted and officers.   It was the only all-black, all-female battalion enlisted overseas during World War II

Based in Birmingham UK during WW2, the first Black Women’s Army Corp were sent overseas to sort out postal duties during the war.

This battalion fought adversity, racism and remarkably sorted out thousands of mail items for service men in half the time, using an innovative 24hr shift system.
