Has a college based teaching career spanning over 20 years. In 2001 Marcia embarked on her first tutoring post in a local Black Country College teaching:

  • GCSE English
  • Functional Skills English, maths and ESOL
  • Employability Skills
  • Drama
  • History

Within this role she has also had the opportunity to extend her teaching environment to alternative provisions including prisons, women’s hostels and young mother and baby units.

In 2016 Marcia decided to expand her teaching portfolio and undertook specialist SENCO training in autism, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour, this combined with her previous teaching experience enabled her to obtain the position of Lead Practitioner in a specialist college for Learning Disabilities.

In 2017 to the present, Marcia established and has been managing an independent inner city supplementary school specialising in 11plus for KS1 and KS2.  Along-side this she has co-ordinated and managed an Afro-Centric Holiday Club for children aged 7 to 14 years old.

Black History has been Marcia’s passion for over 25 years !  especially focusing on researching and presenting the untold stories of Black History in an array of art forms.

She has had a stint at amateur dramatics and has played starring roles in 2 theatre productions, The Martin Luther King Story and the Rosa Parkes Bus Boycott

In 2017 to 2019 Marcia presented a weekly Black History Knowledge Quiz on a Birmingham based radio station.

Marcia is currently compiling a series of oral stories which depict the socio-economic experiences of the Windrush Generation and how these experiences affect the present generation.
